The Challenge

UK Tote Group, the UK’s leading pools-based betting operator, faced a critical resourcing gap ahead of one of the biggest periods in their calendar – Royal Ascot and the Euros 2024.

With high targets and big budgets at stake, they needed immediate support to manage their paid media campaigns, scale investment confidently, and maintain strong performance – all while ensuring internal deadlines and trading targets were met without disruption.

Originally planned as a short-term, three-month partnership, the stakes were high to deliver immediate impact.

The Strategy

We quickly embedded ourselves within the team, moving at pace to:

  • Integrate seamlessly into existing workflows, acting as an extension of the internal team rather than an external contractor.

  • Scale investment across paid search and social channels while maintaining strong cost-per-acquisition (CPA) performance.

  • Expand activity beyond basic search campaigns by introducing and optimising Performance Max campaigns, unlocking new growth opportunities.

  • Offer strategic support outside the original scope, assisting the Senior Acquisition Manager with broader initiatives and longer-term planning.

  • Ensure no internal deadlines were missed, despite the intensity of the trading calendar.

By combining hands-on management with senior-level strategic advice, we were able to strengthen the team’s acquisition capability during a critical window.

The Results

  • Partnership extended from an initial 3 months to nearly 10 months, due to strong performance and deep integration with the team.

  • Positive growth achieved across both search and social channels, even with increased investment levels.

  • Performance Max successfully introduced, laying the groundwork for broader campaign expansion and better returns.

  • Maintained strong CPA despite scaling budgets through peak trading periods.

  • Gave the business critical breathing space to recruit for a senior role without compromising on results.
